Houston home sales, October 2026: $775,000 median sale price over the last 12 months, up 4.7% from the year before, 2,364 closed sales and 1,217 homes for sale. Charts and month-by-month comparisons.

Here is where the Houston (Harris County) housing market stands this month, from residential sales recorded in HAR.com (Houston Association of REALTORS®). Every figure is a median or a total for the area; Texas is a non-disclosure state, so we never publish what an individual home sold for. These figures cover ZIP codes 77019, 77027, 77024, 77056, 77005, 77098, 77057, 77079.

Over the last 12 months, 2,364 homes closed in Houston, down 7.4% from the 12 months before. The median sale price was $775,000 (up 4.7% year over year), and the median home sold in 25 days (longer by 8.7% than a year earlier). There are 1,217 homes for sale right now, about 6.2 months of inventory at the current pace, which by the common rule of thumb gives buyers more room to negotiate.

Month by month, against a year ago

In September 2026, 158 homes closed, compared with 215 in September 2025. The median sale price was $799,000, against $690,000 a year earlier. The chart compares each of the last 12 months with the same month the year before.

The luxury market ($1.5 million and up)

606 homes priced at $1.5 million or more closed in the last 12 months, at a median of $2.4 million and a median of 16 days on market. 223 are for sale now, about 4.4 months of inventory.
