The Hills Country Club in Lakeway has four courses, including Jack Nicklaus's 1981 Signature course, plus tennis, pickleball, aquatics and dining.
The Hills Country Club in Lakeway offers 72 holes across four courses, one of the deepest golf lineups at any private club in Texas. It is owned and operated by Invited (formerly ClubCorp) and was long marketed as the Hills of Lakeway.
The four courses
- The Signature course is a Jack Nicklaus solo design. Nicklaus agreed to build it in 1979 and it opened in 1981. It plays about 7,200 yards, par 72, and its greens were comprehensively renovated in 2024, per the club.
- Flintrock Falls, co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, opened in 2002: par 72, a little over 7,000 yards, with creeks and limestone in play.
- Live Oak, the original course, opened its front nine in 1965 and back nine in 1967, with tees and green surrounds renovated in 2023.
- Yaupon opened in 1977 and plays par 72.
The club
Beyond golf, the club built out its amenities over the decades, per its history: the World of Tennis complex (1973), the Elevation Athletic Club fitness center (2019), three restaurants (2020), a renovated aquatic complex with a lap pool, splash pad and slide (2021), and eight pickleball courts (2022). Membership comes in golf and social categories, with reciprocal access to Invited’s network of clubs. Fees are not published.
The community
The Hills is a guard-gated community of custom homes with golf course and Hill Country views, incorporated as the City of The Hills in 1997. It is served by Lake Travis ISD.
